Introduction
Welcome to Parsepoint. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in an open and transparent manner. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website and use our services. By using our services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. This policy may change from time to time (see Changes to Our Privacy Policy).

Information We Collect
We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect on the Site includes:

Account Information
We collect, and associate with your account, the information you provide to us when you do things such as sign up for your account, upgrade to a paid plan, and set up two-factor authentication (like your name, email address, phone number, payment info, and physical address).

Your Content
Our Services are designed as a simple and personalized way for you to store your files, documents, photos, comments, messages, and so on (“Your Content”), collaborate with others, and work across multiple devices and services. To make that possible, we store, process, and transmit Your Content as well as information related to it. This related information includes your profile information that makes it easier to collaborate and share Your Content with others, as well as things like the size of the file, the time it was uploaded, collaborators, and usage activity.

Contacts
You may choose to give us access to your contacts to make it easy for you to do things like share and collaborate on Your Content, send messages, and invite others to use the Services. If you do, we’ll store those contacts on our servers.

Usage information
We collect information related to how you use the Services, including actions you take in your account (like sharing, editing, viewing, creating and moving files or folders). We use this information to provide, improve, and promote our Services, and protect Parsepoint users.

Device information
We also collect information from and about the devices you use to access the Services. This includes things like IP addresses, the type of browser and device you use, the web page you visited before coming to our sites, and identifiers associated with your devices. Your devices (depending on their settings) may also transmit location information to the Services. For example, we use device information to detect abuse and identify and troubleshoot bugs.

Information We May Collect Through Automatic Data Collection Technologies
As you navigate through and interact with our Website, we may use automatic data collection technologies to collect certain information about your equipment, browsing actions, and patterns, including:

Details of your visits to our Website, including traffic data, location data, logs, and other communication data and the resources that you access and use on the Website.

Information about your computer and internet connection, including your IP address, operating system, and browser type.

The information we collect automatically is only statistical data and does not include personal information, but we may maintain it or associate it with personal information we collect in other ways or receive from third parties. It helps us to improve our Website and to deliver a better and more personalized service, including by enabling us to:

  • Estimate our audience size and usage patterns.
  • Store information about your preferences, allowing us to customize our Website according to your individual interests.
  • Speed up your searches.
  • Recognize you when you return to our Website.

Cookies and other technologies
We use technologies like cookies and pixel tags to provide, improve, protect, and promote our Services. For example, cookies help us with things like remembering your username for your next visit, understanding how you are interacting with our Services, and improving them based on that information. You can set your browser to not accept cookies, but this may limit your ability to use the Services. We may also use third-party service providers that set cookies and similar technologies to promote Parsepoint services.

Marketing
If you register for our Services, we will, from time to time, send you information about upgrades when permissible. Users who receive these marketing materials can opt out at any time. If you don’t want to receive a particular type of marketing material from us, click the ‘unsubscribe’ link in the corresponding emails.

We may also collect information from you if you interact with Parsepoint representatives at an event, download marketing or educational materials from our website, or contact a Parsepoint representative. We may use the information you provide to send you additional marketing materials.

We sometimes contact people who don’t have a Parsepoint account. For recipients in the EU, we or a third party will obtain consent before reaching out. If you receive an email and no longer wish to be contacted by Parsepoint, you can unsubscribe and remove yourself from our contact list via the message itself.

Bases for processing your data
We collect and use the personal data described above in order to provide you with the Services in a reliable and secure manner. We also collect and use personal data for our legitimate business needs. To the extent we process your personal data for other purposes, we ask for your consent in advance or require that our partners obtain such consent.

Others working for and with Parsepoint
Parsepoint uses certain trusted third parties (for example, providers of customer support and consulting services) for the business purposes of helping us provide, improve, protect, and promote our Services. These third parties will access your information to perform tasks on our behalf, and we’ll remain responsible for their handling of your information per our instructions.

Other applications
You can choose to connect your Parsepoint account with third-party services––for example, via utility APIs. By doing so, you’re enabling Parsepoint and those third parties to exchange information about you and data in your account so that Parsepoint and those third parties can provide, improve, protect, and promote their services. Please remember that third parties’ use of your information will be governed by their own privacy policies and terms of service.

Admins
If you are a user of a Parsepoint organization, your administrator may have the ability to access and control your account. Please refer to your organization’s internal policies if you have questions about this. If you aren’t a Parsepoint organizational user but interact with a user (for example, by joining a shared folder or accessing content shared by that user), members of that organization may be able to view information about you (such as your name, email address, and profile picture) and your interaction with the Parsepoint user (such as your IP address). If you share Your Stuff with a Parsepoint user, the administrator of the team account may have the ability to access and edit what you share.

Law & Order and the Public Interest
We may disclose your information to third parties if we determine that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to: (a) comply with any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or appropriate government request; (b) protect any person from death or serious bodily injury; (c) prevent fraud or abuse of Parsepoint or our users; (d) protect Parsepoint’s rights, property, safety, or interest; or (e) perform a task carried out in the public interest.

Stewardship of your data is critical to us and a responsibility that we embrace. We believe that your data should receive the same legal protections regardless of whether it’s stored on our Services or on your home computer’s hard drive.

Your State Privacy Rights
Depending on your state of residency, you may have certain rights related to your personal data, including:

  • Access and Data Portability. You may confirm whether we process your personal data and access a copy of the personal data we process. To the extent feasible[ and required by state law, depending on your state], data will be provided in a portable format. Depending on your state, you may have the right to receive additional information and it will be included in the response to your access request.
  • Correction. You may request that we correct inaccuracies in your personal data that we maintain, taking into account the information’s nature and processing purpose.
  • Deletion. You may request that we delete personal data about you that we maintain, subject to certain exception under applicable law.
  • Opt Out of Using Personal Data for Targeted Advertising, Profiling, and Sales. You may request that we do not use your personal data for these purposes.

Important
The exact scope of these rights vary by state. There are also several exceptions where we may not have an obligation to fulfill your request.

To exercise any of these rights, please email us at support@parsepoint.com.

Some browsers and browser extensions support the Global Privacy Control (“GPC”) that can send a signal to process your request to opt out from certain types of data processing, including data “sales” as defined under certain laws. When we detect such a signal, we will make reasonable efforts to respect your choices indicated by a GPC setting as required by applicable law.

Nevada provides its residents with a limited right to opt out of certain personal data sales. Residents who wish to exercise their sale opt-out rights may submit a request to this designated address: support@parsepoint.com.

If you are a California resident, additional information applies to you. To access our supplemental California privacy statement and learn more about California residents’ privacy rights, visit https://www.oag.ca.gov/privacy/ccpa.

Security
We continue to work on features to keep your information safe in addition to things like two-factor authentication, encryption of files at rest, and alerts when new devices and apps are linked to your account. We deploy automated technologies to detect abusive behavior and content that may harm our Services, you, or other users.

User Controls
You can access, amend, and delete your personal information by logging into your Parsepoint account.

Data of Minors
Our Services are not intended for, and we do not knowingly collect any personal data from, children under the age of 18. If we learn we have collected or received personal data from a child under 18 years old without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information.

Retention
When you sign up for an account with us, we’ll retain information you store on our Services for as long as your account exists or as long as we need it to provide you the Services. If you delete your account, we’ll initiate deletion of this information after 60 days. But please note: (1) there might be some latency in deleting this information from our servers and back-up storage; and (2) we may retain this information if necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.

Data Storage Locations
To provide you with the Services, we may store, process, and transmit data in the United States and locations around the world—including those outside your country. Data may also be stored locally on the devices you use to access the Services.

Your Control and Access of Your Data
You have control over your personal data and how it’s collected, used, and shared.

Changes to Our Privacy Policy
We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time, and will post the most current version on our website. If a revision meaningfully reduces your rights, we will post such changes on this website. In some instances, we may choose, at our sole discretion to notify you. Your continued use of the Services after we make changes as described here is deemed to be acceptance of those changes, so please check the policy periodically for updates.
